Privacy Policy
Your attention stays yours. So does your data.
NOTIVIVE is built local-first. It learns from high-level usage patterns on your phone, not from what you read, write, or receive. This policy explains exactly what that means.
The short version
- Your usage patterns, history, and insights are stored on your device. There is no NOTIVIVE account.
- NOTIVIVE never reads the text of your notifications, messages, emails, or anything you type. Optional notification access reads metadata only.
- When AI personalization is on, the app sends a handful of preferences (like your goals and tone) to our server to generate content. No usage data, no app names, no identifiers.
- NOTIVIVE never puts ads in notifications. In Free mode, a small number of clearly labeled sponsor cards appear inside the app, and they never use your attention data.
- We do not sell your personal data.
- You can delete everything from inside the app, or by uninstalling it.
Who we are
The NOTIVIVE app and notivive.com are operated by NOTIVIVE (“NOTIVIVE,” “we,” “us”), which is the controller of the limited personal data described here. Questions or requests: privacy@notivive.com.
Data that stays on your device
NOTIVIVE needs some information about how you use your phone to decide when an interruption would actually help. All of the following is processed and stored only on your device:
App usage patterns (Usage Access)
With your permission (Android’s Usage Access, PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS), NOTIVIVE reads which apps were in the foreground and for how long. It turns this into coarse summaries: time in an app, session-like stretches, how often you switch apps, and daily totals. It does not see anything inside those apps.
Notification metadata (optional Notification Access)
If you choose to turn on Notification Access, NOTIVIVE reads only these details about notifications posted on your phone: the posting app’s package name, the time, the importance Android assigns, and whether it was posted or removed (as counts). NOTIVIVE never reads notification titles, text, messages, images, or attachments, and never stores or transmits them. This helps it avoid adding to a noisy moment. It is off by default and NOTIVIVE works without it.
Your settings and history
Your goals, tone, intensity level, quiet hours, learning language, the interventions NOTIVIVE showed you, your feedback on them (such as Useful or Not now), daily summaries, Attention Reclaimed estimates, and any cached content packs.
Showing notifications
NOTIVIVE asks for permission to post notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS) so it can show its own interventions. It does not use this permission to read anything.
On-device history is pruned automatically: detailed records older than 90 days are deleted. NOTIVIVE opts out of Android cloud backup and device-to-device transfer, so this data never leaves the phone that way either.
Data that leaves your device
AI personalization (optional)
When AI personalization is on, the app asks our server (notivive.com) for a batch of personalized content. Each request contains only:
- the goals you selected (for example “focus” or “language”);
- the content categories requested and how many items;
- your chosen tone;
- your learning language, if you set one;
- your device locale (for example “en-US”), so content is in your language;
- the app’s version number and a random request ID that changes with every request.
It does not include usage data, app names, notification data, your advertising ID, device identifiers, contacts, or anything you have typed. Our server passes these preference fields to our AI provider, OpenAI (or, as a fallback, Google’s Gemini API), which processes them to generate the content and returns it to the app. Under these providers’ business API terms, this data is not used to train their models; they may retain API data for a limited period for safety and abuse monitoring. If AI personalization is off, or AI is unavailable, NOTIVIVE uses content built into the app.
Subscriptions (Google Play Billing)
Purchases are handled entirely by Google Play. We never see your payment details. To confirm that a Premium subscription is valid, the app may send the purchase token, product ID, and package name to our server, which checks the status with Google Play’s developer API and returns it to the app. We don’t store the token.
Ads in Free mode (Google Mobile Ads and consent)
After the trial, if you choose Free instead of Premium, NOTIVIVE shows a small number of clearly labeled sponsor cards inside the app using Google’s Mobile Ads SDK (AdMob). No ads are requested during the trial or on Premium, and ads never appear in notifications.
Where required by law (for example in the EEA, the UK, and Switzerland), Google’s User Messaging Platform asks for your consent first. Ads are non-personalized unless you consent to personalized ads. You can change your choice at any time from NOTIVIVE’s settings. When it serves ads, Google may collect information such as your device’s advertising ID, IP address, approximate location derived from it, and ad interactions, as described in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services. You can reset or delete your advertising ID in your Android settings.
We never pass your attention telemetry, usage data, goals, or intervention history to the ads SDK, and none of it is used for ad targeting.
Remote configuration
The app periodically fetches a small configuration file from notivive.com (for example, whether AI content and sponsor cards are switched on), about once a day. This request contains no personal data beyond what every internet request carries.
Network metadata
Like any internet service, our server and our hosting provider (Vercel) see your IP address and basic request information (time, path, status) when the app contacts notivive.com. We use IP addresses transiently, in memory, to rate-limit abuse. Standard hosting request logs may be retained by the provider for a short period. We do not log request bodies.
If you email us, we use your message and address only to reply and keep a record of the conversation.
What we don’t do
- We don’t sell personal data, and we don’t share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
- We don’t read, store, or transmit notification text or message contents.
- We don’t upload your app-by-app usage history.
- We don’t use an Accessibility Service to watch your screen.
- We don’t include third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDKs. If that ever changes, we will update this policy first.
Legal bases
Where the GDPR or similar laws apply, we process data to provide the service you asked for (performance of a contract), with your consent for optional permissions and personalized ads (which you can withdraw at any time), and for our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure and preventing abuse.
Retention
- On-device data: kept until you delete it or uninstall; detailed history older than 90 days is pruned.
- AI requests: processed transiently to generate a response. Our server does not store request bodies; logs record only technical metadata such as status and timing.
- Subscription checks: processed transiently; tokens are not stored or logged.
- Support email: kept as long as needed to help you, then deleted.
Security
All traffic between the app and notivive.com uses HTTPS. No API keys are stored in the app. Our server accepts only a small, strictly validated set of fields and rejects everything else.
Your choices and rights
- Revoke Usage Access, Notification Access, or notification permission at any time in Android settings.
- Turn AI personalization off in NOTIVIVE’s settings.
- Delete everything with Settings → Delete all my data in the app, or by uninstalling NOTIVIVE. See how data deletion works.
- Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your data, to object to or restrict processing, and to complain to your local data protection authority. Because we hold no account and no personal profile on our servers, most of these requests are satisfied on your device, but you can always write to privacy@notivive.com and we will respond within 30 days.
Wherever you live
NOTIVIVE is available worldwide and applies the same privacy protections everywhere: your attention data stays on your phone, and we do not sell personal information. Specifically:
- United States (including California, Colorado, Virginia, Connecticut, Texas and other state privacy laws): we do not sell personal information or use your attention data for targeted advertising. In the Free plan, Google’s ad services may process your device’s advertising ID to show and measure a sponsor card; you can opt out in the app (Settings → Ad privacy choices, where shown) or by deleting your advertising ID in Android settings. Premium and trial users are never shown ads.
- EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland (GDPR / UK GDPR / FADP): ads in the Free plan are requested only after the consent choice shown by Google’s consent tool. Personal data sent to our servers (preferences only) may be processed in the United States under appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
- Brazil (LGPD), Canada (PIPEDA and provincial laws), India (DPDP Act), Australia, Japan (APPI), South Korea (PIPA) and elsewhere: you have the rights your local law provides; write to privacy@notivive.com and we will respond within the time your law requires (and never later than 30 days).
Children
NOTIVIVE is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has used the service, contact us and we’ll help.
International transfers
Our server and providers may process the limited data described above in the United States and other countries. Where required, transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update the effective date above and, for material changes, tell you in the app before they take effect.
